San Francisco is carefully practiced in in a tradition love, tolerance and acceptance to both the joy and the distain of the Nation for the last fifty years. Perhaps these things have not always been perfectly practiced here, but the City is always seeking progress and where there is progress, there is hope for those who find only discrimination and hate in other places around the Nation.
For its centennial in 2016, San Francisco installed a programmable LED lighting system for the exterior of City Hall followed by the same for the famed landmark, Coit Tower in early 2017. With the click of buttons, The City now celebrates or mourns local, national or world events in the form of light displays, telegraphing its feelings to the world around it.
